New York University’s Center on Violence and Recovery is dedicated to advancing knowledge on the causes and consequences of violence and trauma, and developing solutions that foster healing among individuals, families and communities.
The Center focuses on developing innovative responses to communal and intimate violence, abuse and trauma. Through restorative justice-based treatment approaches that bring together entire communities in order to support families experiencing abuse, and films, books, exhibits, and other creative media projects that explore the impact of trauma and the use of restorative practices, CVR is dedicated to contributing to the understanding of healing.
This blog is designed to keep up with developments in the worlds of criminal and restorative justice, especially those that intersect with domestic violence. Posts will come from staff, fellows, interns, and friends of CVR, on any number of topics from intimate partner violence, to the use of restorative justice in schools, and new ways of thinking about and addressing community violence.
